The Svanö (1956-64) motor launch became a popular boat in Scandinavia being part of the "Ö"-series of which a total of 400 boats were built. Aja is hull number 375 being constructed of mahogany clinker planking on steamed oak. A typically Swedish boat she has a spacious cockpit with al fresco double sink and cooker (not currently fitted), room for a fridge in the cupboard astern of the skipper who sits on the starboard side. The mahogany cupboards and internal joinery complete with drawers is rather charming. With a standing height pramhood and transparent side curtains she is a good all weather boat for river, lake or estuary. The present owner replaced the petrol engine with a 1989 TMD22P (78 H.P) 4 cylinder diesel engine. The cabin offers two bunks for sleeping or sitting, a hanging cupboard and could accommodate a portapotti if required.

The hull was repaired and repainted in bright white by Mike Dennett of Laleham Boatyard where a full restoration was carried out in 2006 (builders report available). She has a current EA licence and the BSS certificate is valid until April 2011. There is an unused tonneau cover in the same red as the pramhood.
