Belle Epoque was built in 1937 by Hobbs and Sons Ltd of Henley-on-Thames and originally named "Cachalot" by its owner Mr Knight of Knights Castile Soap who commissioned the launch from Hobbs and Sons. Built of teak on oak she is 30ft in length with a beam of 7ft 6ins. She has a new diesel engine fitted in 2005 when she underwent extensive restoration with Rupert Latham in Woodbastwick. A forward canopy protects the ample cockpit while there is also a useful open area with seating at the stern as well as a Portapotti in a separate compartment. The interior is beautifully fitted out with varnished mahogany bulkheads and galley area.Recently the boat has been operating for a prestigious resort in Scotland where she is now available for viewing.
