Built by Lavers of Dartmouth in 1932, Dorothea is of Burmese teak on grown oak frames with rock elm ribs. She has a lead ballast keel, reinforced steel shoe and a new teak laid deck not to mention all new beams, covering boards, beam shelves, new stem forefoot and apron. Dennetts of Chertsey are just completing a 10 year ongoing restoration which has seen the installation of a super new galley in the forward area with seating (think family kitchen), a wonderful period head with holding tank. Aft of the wheelhouse is a roomy saloon with stove, seating, a table and bunks. Two more berths are available in the bow. There are new varnished wooden floors throughout to complement the varnished mahogany bulkheads. Rewiring has been done to commercial marine standard with the latest high capacity Mastervolt rectifier/charger, 12volt/24volt and 240 volt systems on board and separate engine/domestic charging. If she were to stay on the Thames there is the required BSS certificate as well as a current EA licence. The charming clinker tender can be lug sailed, or towed and comes with new spar and sail. Davits allow easy launching. The main photo shows Dorothea in the 1950s flying the burgee of the Island Sailing Club on the Isle of Wight and the guns indicate she was acting as the Committee boat at that time. As Dorothea belongs to a company there is a 17.5 % VAT allowance within the asking price which could be subtracted for export or for another VAT registered purchaser.
