Built in 1983 by K.R. Skentelbery of Plymouth, Tom Tit is a sturdy boat of teak on rock elm with a flared frigate bow. Much rebuilding was done over a period of several years by John Caddy of Weymouth including the beautiful teak laid decks. The rebuild is fully documented for interested potential purchasers. The main features are as follows :

New aquadrives with Stainless steel shafts

New hydraulic steering, Autohelm, VHF radio and main distribution panel.

Stainless steel fuel tanks, water tank, holding tankss and gas tank.

Fully rewired throughout with full 12 volt system powered by 5 batteries.

Shore power connection, mains battery charger and immersion heater for calorifier

Full gas central heating, hot and cold systems (provision for a shower although none fitted).

The airy forecabin has a double berth lit by a large skylight. A fitted wardrobe allows full hanging space and a separate ensuite with head and basin offers privacy.

The saloon has an in-laid table for 6 which converts down to a double berth. Loads of cupboard space in the saloon including a glass fronted drinks cabinet. Light floods in through a second large skylight above illuminating both the cabin and the galley (fridge, oven, four gas rings, top loading fridge, lots of storage)

Separate WC compartment with basin and drainage for shower.

The wheelhouse affords seating for about six people and extra occasional berths as well as good vision for the skipper and easy access to all navigation systems. Immediately aft is the open cockpit which has a green canvas canopy accommodating yet more seating.

The boat has a current BSS certificate and Thames EA licence until December 2008. She is available for viewing close to our Henley office. Please call for an appointment.

DUNKIRK HISTORY (in a nutshell)

In May 1940 as part of Operation Dynamo Tom Tit was "taken without permission" from Ramsgate Pier by the civilian Tomlinson brothers whom made no less than sixteen return trips between the East Mole and the naval ships waiting offshore to rescue troops. The present owner has returned with Tom Tit twice to Dunkirk for memorial celebrations.
